Transfer News: Manchester United decline meeting with Mino Raiola regarding Erling Haaland
According to The Sun, Manchester United and their pursuit of Erling Haaland has taken a fresh twist.
The Red Devils are one of the teams interested in the Norwegian ace following his insatiable appetite for goals at Borussia Dortmund. They are, however, not the only team in the fray for the 20-year-old.
Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agant and Alf-Inge Haaland, his father have been jetting around Europe to meet prospective club officiials before arriving at a decision regarding the player’s future.
It was reported earlier that Raiola and his entourage would be in England to talk to teams after meeting up with Barcelona and Real Madrid. It would now appear that United have passed on the opportunity to meet the superagent.
The player continues to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target heading into the summer but for now, the club is willing to wait it out. United will, meanwhile, continue to monitor the situation.
An expensive proposition!
It was revealed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano that Haaland would cost in the region of €150m or more. Given the aftershocks of the coronavirus pandemic, it is debatable if United can splash the cash on one player.
While Haaland is likely to be a world-beater, the Red Devils are far from being one player away from turning into title challengers. While a number of positions needing strengthening, maybe it is for the best that we look elsewhere at more affordable options.

Whether United’s ploy is a power tactic remains to be seen. The club has had their run-ins with Mino Raiola in the past and how the Italian will react to any future proposals will be interesting.
The Red Devils wasted the whole of last summer embroiled in trying to sign Jadon Sancho. A repeat of that is best avoidable with better focus to be put on attainable targets.
