AC Milan keen on negotiations with Manchester United chief over new Diogo Dalot deal
A report by Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror), AC Milan want to enter into discussions with Manchester United and Ed Woodward as they look to keep Diogo Dalot past his current loan spell.
The Portuguese full-back left United to join the Serie A side on loan at the start of this season.
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka a cemented first-team starter at right-back and Luke Shaw competing for starts with Alex Telles on the left flank, it was unlikely that Dalot would get a lot of games for the side.
And his move to Milan seems to be paying off as he has made 24 appearances in all competitions already this season. Il Rossoneri now want to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2020.
Milan want Dalot
Dalot is scheduled to return to Old Trafford once the current season ends. But Milan are keen on keeping the 22-year-old for longer, although it is not clear if they will table a loan or a permanent offer. (h/t Mirror)
Milan would also have to compete with Everton if they are to keep a hold of the Portuguese full-back. The Toffees are on the lookout for a long-term Seamus Coleman replacement, with Dalot a potential candidate.
Another hurdle in their pursuit for the former Porto man would be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s apparent willingness to hand Dalot another chance at the club, which he conveyed earlier this month.
“He’s playing at a big club, big expectations and a great history, so it’s been a good year for him. So, of course, I’ve been very pleased with his development this season. He’s our player and we’re looking forward to having him back.”

He can play on both flanks in defence and this versatility would surely come in handy for United. And on top of that, at just 22 years of age, there is still time for him to develop and become a regular starter for the club in the future.
