Transfer News: Manchester United to battle Real Madrid for Moussa Diaby
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are all set to battle Real Madrid over the signing of Moussa Diaby. United see Diaby as a viable alternative for Jadon Sancho and a price tag of £34m could tempt them into going after the Bayer Leverkusen man.
Profile
Moussa Diaby is a 21-year-old French winger who plays for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. A product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, he started out for them in 2009. He spent the next few years progressing through the various age groups.
In 2018, he made 34 appearances, scoring 4 goals and assisting 7. Despite the good form, he was eventually sold to Bayer Leverkusen where he has settled in well. So far, he has made 74 appearances for them, scoring 17 goals and assisting 20 (h/t Transfermarkt).
Diaby could be a good Sancho alternative
It has been said that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a new winger. A host of players have been tried on the flanks but no one has nailed down the spot in the side.
Currently, Mason Greenwood and Rashford man the flanks but it is evident that an out-and-out wide player is needed.
Diaby has emerged as an alternative for Jadon Sancho but Diaby could be the centre of a bidding war between Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The Red Devils were linked with the player last summer but Leverkusen refused to sell. Now with Real Madrid after the player, things have really started to heat up.
