Solskjaer gives the latest injury update on Marcus Rashford
Speaking to the club media after the game against AC Milan (h/t official club website), Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mentioned that Marcus Rashford was taken off at half-time because he felt a ‘little twinge’.
Paul Pogba came in his place for the second 45 minutes and scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute to lead United to the Europa League quarter-final. Nevertheless, concern built around Rashford’s fitness.
The club is primed to take on Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday. And Solskjaer is hopeful that the English striker would be available for selection against the Foxes.
“
Marcus was feeling something. We didn’t want to take any risks. I think he’ll be alright… he had a little twinge. We couldn’t take a risk with him but hopefully, he won’t be too bad.”
Positive news
The club also had David de Gea and Donny van de Beek back on the bench. And Paul Pogba returned from injury to feature for 45 minutes against the Serie A outfit.
Solskjaer hopes that Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial are also back in time for United’s next fixture. If all goes to plan, then the Red Devils would have a fully fit team for the FA Cup last-8 tie.
“…now we’ve added Donny and David is back… Hopefully Anthony and Edinson are back soon, so it’s looking bright.”
Both the Frenchman and the Uruguayan hitman were absent from the bench against Il Rossonerri. But it could be vital resting time for them as the club prepares to take on Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes on Sunday.
