Team News: Manchester United trio return to training ahead of AC Milan clash

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of the Europa League clash against AC Milan in what comes across as positive team news.

The first-team trio of Edinson Cavani, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba have all returned to training ahead of the trip to Italy. All three missed last week’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Pogba and Cavani have been good for the team this season and their return will not have come at a better time. The Red Devils have struggled up front in recent weeks and the duo’s return will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more options.

With Anthony Martial injured and Marcus Rashford having just returned, Cavani’s return will give the club another senior striker to call upon. The game could also see the Uruguayan go up against his former strike partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The former United star too is back in training and will present the Red Devils defence with a formidable challenge.

Pogba, meanwhile, has not featured for United since our 3-3 draw to Everton last month. The Frenchman was in fine form at that time and his absence has been noticeable.

Decisions to be made

The same cannot be said of Van de Beek. The 23-year-old is talented but has barely played for the club this season. Whether he will find playing time easier to come for the rest of the season remains to be seen.

Starting goalkeeper David de Gea is also back in training following his return from Spain. The 30-year-old missed our last four games owing to the birth of his first child.

Whether Henderson holds onto his spot for the trip to San Siro remains to be seen.

United go into the game on the backfoot, thanks to Simon Kjaer’s injury-time equalizer at Old Trafford. The onus is now on us to take the game to the Italians in their own backyard.
