Manchester United ready to meet Nikola Milenkovic release clause
According to Todofichajes, Manchester United are ready to meet the release clause for Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
The Red Devils are keen on adding a new central defender to their roster next summer. They have also been linked to Sergio Ramos but the defender looks set to stay on at Real Madrid.
With him now out of contention, United are set to go up against Juventus for Milenkovic. The Serbian international is one of the best young defenders in the Italian top-flight.
Milenkovic is contracted to La Viola until 2022. He is unlikely to pen an extension and looks set to move in the coming summer transfer window. United have already reached out to the player and his agents regarding their intentions.
The Red Devils believe he is the ideal foil for skipper Harry Maguire in the heart of our defence. They now appear to be ready to make a move and meet Fiorentina’s release clause for the player.
At a modest €30million, Milenkovic represents value for money in a fair market. Where the amount stands in a post-COVID-19 landscape remains to be seen.
Another advantage United could have is Juventus’ financial concerns. The Italian giants are reeling from the aftershocks of the pandemic and could struggle to match the release clause themselves.
Arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the player. At 1.95m, Milenkovic is a towering presence at the back. The versatility to also do a job at right-back further adds to his appeal.

While United are also keen on Sevilla star Jules Kounde, his asking price could prove to be an issue. In Milenkovic, we could get ourselves a player who is of a similar age and will cost less than half of the Frenchman’s price.
