Misfiring Manchester United attack a worry for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had to deal with an unreliable defence all season. The rearguard is widely considered to be our Achilles heel and has often proven to be the case.
Of late, fortunes at the other end of the pitch have been hardly better. The Red Devils have failed to score in the last three games and according to The Mirror, Solskjaer is now worried about the club’s top four prospects.
“Of course we’re not happy if you don’t create chances, don’t score goals and it’s been a week without goals.”
The United attack led by Edinson Cavani looked toothless yesterday night against Crystal Palace. The mighty Reds managed just one shot on target all game and truth be told, it was a struggle to watch us play.
The draw saw us fall 14 points behind Manchester City who are currently top of the table. While the title race appears to be done, United will be nervously watching over their shoulders at the teams below them.
“We just have to concentrate on ourselves. We know we’re in a fight to be top four, so every game is important.”
The likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are capable of putting up a good run of results and could push us hard if we do not take our chances.
Management to blame?
Despite the setbacks, Solskjaer believes his players have put in their best. While it is good to see the Norwegian defend his players, he also needs to identify the actual problem.?
“It’s a bit of a worry, of course it is, but I know the boys have given everything. With their quality, I know we can get back to where we want to be.”
Clearly, something isn’t working and Solskjaer too will have to take responsibility for the fault. While fatigue is understandable, it is not an issue that is unexpected.

United faced the same concerns at the business end of last season and one would like to think Solskjaer would have learnt from it. The fact that he has now taken us from ‘title contenders’ to ‘top four challengers’ speaks volumes about his ambition.
One has to ask if he is truly the one to lead the club forward. After all, attitude reflects leadership.
