Manchester United star Luke Shaw facing FA charge after levelling accusations on PL referee
According to the Daily Mail, the FA will decide whether Manchester United star Luke Shaw should be sanctioned for his post-match comments following the 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.
The left-back was unhappy with referee Stuart Attwell’s decision to overturn VAR call, denying United what looked like a stonewall penalty.
Speaking after the game, Shaw revealed that he overheard the referee tell United skipper Harry Maguire that he did not award the penalty in order to not court controversy. The United star has since admitted that he misheard the on-field exchange.
Despite Shaw correcting his statement, he could be privy to being charged by the FA for his conduct. A decision is set to be made before the end of the day.
If found guilty, Shaw could be charged with rule Rule E3(1) that deals with bias or attack on the integrity of match officials. This could potentially see the 25-year-old receive a ban.
There is no stock sanction for the charge and the FA have until Wednesday to make a decision. The punishment is determined by an independent regulatory commission. (h/t Daily Mail)
While Shaw’s frustration was understandable, he should have displayed some nous in choosing what to reveal, especially regarding such big accusations without concrete proof.
One of our best players this season, losing Shaw going into the business end of the season will be a blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

While we have the right to feel hard done by, we cannot let this one decision monopolize our thoughts heading into the doubleheader against Crystal Palace and Manchester City.
After all, there is little we can do to change the past. There is much to be played for this season and we can not afford to lose focus.
