Boost for Manchester United as BVB supremo Watzke refuses to rule out Jadon Sancho exit
According to Sport Witness, Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho next summer.
The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer. However, Dortmund were unwilling to lower their asking price and the player stayed put in Germany.
Dortmund have not been immune to the financial fallout, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. They could find themselves in further trouble if they fail to land a Champions League spot for next season.
Such a situation could see them cash in on their prized prospects in the summer window. While they may not be too keen to do it, they could have little choice in the matter.
Speaking to Handesblatt, BVB supremo Hans-Joachin Watzke has refused to rule out any scenario. This augurs well for United, who are not just keen on Sancho but also on Erling Haaland.
“In the midst of a pandemic, I no longer rule anything out.”
Dortmund are keen to strike the right balance between financial stability and putting together a competitive team on the pitch. Watzke has confirmed that the Germans will rather sell players than take loans while retaining their assets.
“Asking banks for credit lines at the drop of a hat just to avoid selling a player will not be our way.”
Adding Sancho to the United squad will address our key weakness at right-wing. One of the best young players in world football, the Red Devils could be getting themselves a true superstar in the works.
