Solskjaer backs Manchester United star Anthony Martial to return to form

According to ESPN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has backed misfiring Manchester United forward Anthony Martial to get back to his best. The Frenchman is going through a lean spell this season and cannot seem to find the net on a consistent basis.

Martial’s 23 goals last season saw him become United’s top scorer but it has been quite the contrast this season. Martial has found the net just 7 times this season so far. His struggles have seen Edinson Cavani being thrown into the mix a lot more than expected.

However, the manager has backed his efforts in training and is of the opinion that he would return to form.

“Anthony knows what we want and he is working really hard to do well for the team and that’s what’s pleasing me every day in training.

“He’s not going to sit down and wait for things to happen, he knows he will have to make it happen himself and we encourage him and coach him and we know that he’s got this quality and class. Everyone goes through a difficult patch at times and Anthony is working hard, that’s the main thing.”

More Manchester United News:

With Edinson Cavani close to returning from his injury, Martial will need to start taking his chances. Chelsea, on the weekend, could be the perfect place to start and show that he is still the right player to lead United’s attack in the long run.
