PSG make a lucrative offer to Manchester United target David Alaba
According to German publication Bild (h/t ESPN), French champions PSG have made a lucrative offer to Manchester United target David Alaba.
The Austrian superstar is in the final few months of his contract at Bayern Munich. Still in the prime of his career, his potential availability on a Bosman in the summer has drawn much interest.
Capable of playing a variety of positions, the Austrian would have added much to the United squad. Moreover, his proficiency on the dead ball would give the club yet another option when it comes to set-pieces.
As per the report, Alaba has held talks with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a summer switch to the French capital. He is yet to respond and is believed to prefer a switch to Real Madrid.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had earlier revealed on Twitter that the player has already reached a verbal agreement with the Spanish giants ahead of the summer switch.
Los Blancos are working on a pre-contract agreement that will see the player commit to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2025. While the contract is almost ready, it is yet to be signed.
This delay in concluding negotiations could give another side a chance to swoop in. It would appear that is exactly what PSG have done.
United’s interest has somewhat petered off in recent weeks, with Romano also hinting as much. The transfer window, however, has the habit of throwing a curveball and it remains to be seen if the Red Devils have a trick up their sleeve.

The Red Devils are keen to bring in a central defender in the summer. The Bundesliga has emerged as a popular source, with the likes of Alaba, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate all being looked at.
Upamecano has since agreed to join Bayern Munich and it remains to be seen if his RB Leipzig partner Konate will ply his trade at Old Trafford next summer.
