Manchester United could be offered a chance to sign Andre Silva in the summer
According to The Sun, Manchester United could bring in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva in the summer window.
The 25-year-old came through the ranks at FC Porto before joining AC Milan in 2017. His time at the San Siro was disappointing and he was promptly shipped out on loan, first to Sevilla and then to Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga side wound up making the deal permanent in 2020. As things stand they have benefitted greatly from the move. Silva is enjoying a spectacular season and has scored 19 goals and made five assists in just 22 appearances so far.
A prolific scorer, Silva has two years left on his deal. However, the potential return of Luka Jovic could see Frankfurt hope to raise funds by selling Silva.
The player too is keen to move to the Premier League and his agent Jorge Mendes has already got the wheels turning regarding a switch to Old Trafford.
The German side are willing to let go of their star striker for £30million. Given his age and potential, it would appear to be a fair price for a player entering his prime.
A decision to make!
But United’s decision on Silva cannot be taken in isolation. Securing him could very well come at the cost of Edinson Cavani.
The Red Devils signed the 34-year-old striker on a one-year deal in October but have the option to extend his deal by a year. Cavani has so far impressed by scoring six goals in 17 appearances. (h/t The Daily Mail)
The Uruguayan has been stricken with injuries in recent weeks. Unfortunately for him, this could work against him as United look to make their decision.

Signing Silva will give United a prolific scorer to call upon. However, getting rid of Cavani is counter-intuitive.
Anthony Martial is the club’s other senior striker and the Frenchman has been far from impressive. Going into next season with the highly inconsistent Martial could be a disaster waiting to happen.
The best bet for the club is to extend Cavani’s contract by another year while also bringing in Silva.
