Report – French ace admits he has no regrets over rejecting Man United

Benoit Badiashile confirms Manchester United failed to land him for £22million

Speaking to RMC (h/t The Metro), Benoit Badiashile has admitted that Manchester United made a £22million bid to land him.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on the lookout for a defender to partner skipper Harry Maguire. Badiashile was one of the players on our radar.

But the youngster rejected the opportunity to move to Old Trafford and decided to stay put at Monaco. The 19-year-old has gone on to make 25 appearances for the French side this season, scoring twice and assisting one. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Badiashile came through the youth ranks at Monaco and made his senior debut in 2018 during the ill-fated reign of Thierry Henry as the manager.

“It was the right choice, first off is I have not enjoyed good seasons since I have been at Monaco.”

But the defender has no regrets over rejecting United and is enjoying life at Monaco. They are currently fourth in the table, six points off the top.

“No, not at all.”

The 19-year-old is held in high regard and is expected to emulate Raphael Varane in the coming years. Given the success that Varane has had at the club and international levels, Badiashile has some big shoes to fill.

The United defence has proven itself to be incapable of sustaining long spells of consistency. Signing Badiashile would have given us a real long-term prospect to develop. Whether we will return for him in the future remains to be seen.

Badiashile is quick on his feet and has pace to burn to go along with his 6ft 4in frame. He is also a force to reckon with aerially.
