Manchester United fans question if Anthony Martial is a spent force at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans would be forgiven for thinking that last season was a watershed moment in the moment of Anthony Martial at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman enjoyed his most prolific season at the club, ending the campaign as our top scorer and also as the Players’ Player of the year.

Unfortunately, he’s been nowhere near that level this time around. He has scored just seven goals this season, a tally that is unconvincing for a man expected to head the United attack.

It is not due to a lack of opportunities either, as the 25-year-old continues to be given game time when fit. He started last night’s win over Newcastle United but fans will be forgiven for thinking he wasn’t on the field.

Martial put in another abject performance and was taken off for Mason Greenwood in the second half.

According to The Mirror, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unhappy with the player’s movement. In fact, he was heard shouting at Martial to show more mobility before taking him off.

Martial has been at the club for a little under six years now. Despite showing promise, he has been unable to show any semblance of consistency.

A number of fans believe his time at the club is now coming to a close. We take a look at what they said on Twitter.
