Man United face threat from Serie A giants in pursuit of impressive Argentine starlet

AC Milan to rival Manchester United for Facundo Medina

According to Italian source CalcioMercato, AC Milan look set to challenge Manchester United for the signing of Facundo Medina.

The Italian giants are keen to replace Alessio Romagnoli in the summer and Medina is seen as one of the potential targets. The 21-year-old is enjoying an excellent season in Ligue 1 at RC Lens who are currently sixth in the French top flight.

He has so far made 18 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring two goals. Capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back, Medina is a promising talent. (h/t Transfermarkt)

United were linked with a move for the Argentine star in January. However, the interest came to nought and Medina stayed put at Lens. United were said to be serious about their interest in Medina and could launch an £11m bid for the player’s services. (h/t Daily Mail)

The 21-year-old is an acute reader of the game and has good tecnhical ability on the ball. More so as a left-footed player, he would add a different dimension to the United defence.

Medina’s performances have not gone unnoticed. His fine form also saw him make his senior debut for Argentina last September.

Lens were promoted to the top flight only at the end of last season. They are currently comfortably placed in the top half of the table and escaping relegation will definitely boost Medina’s stature.

United missed out on signing another Lens defender, Raphael Varane in 2011. 10 years on, it remains to be seen if we can set that record straight with Medina.
