Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson impressed with how Jesse Lingard is doing at West Ham
According to The Mirror, Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed with how Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard is currently doing at West Ham United.
The 28-year-old was starved for opportunities at Old Trafford. This saw him move to the Hammers in January on loan.
Lingard made his debut against Aston Villa and made an instant impact. He scored two goals on the night showcasing once again that he can be an asset if used right.
His progress has been noted by Ferguson who was the manager at United during the player’s formative years. The legendary Scot even went as far as to tell West Ham manager David Moyes to pass on his best to the player.
“Jesse has only here in the short term but already I’ve spoken with Sir Alex, who asked me to pass on his best.”
Moyes too is aware of Lingard from his brief stint as United manager. While the player did leave an impression on him in pre-season, Moyes decided to send Lingard out on loan that summer.
“He mentioned he was thinking about Jesse because Sir Alex had him as a boy at Old Trafford and then when I was there I had him for a little bit as well just at the start of it.”
Moyes attributes Ferguson’s action to that of someone who takes great interest in his players. A terrific man-manager, the legendary Scot got his players to run through brick walls for him.
Lingard’s experience could give West Ham a major boost in their efforts to finish in the top six. The Hammers are enjoying a fine season and could yet finish the campaign having qualified for Europe.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not rate Lingard very highly, the same cannot be said of his predecessors. Both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho were fond of the 28-year-old, who scored some key goals for the club under the duo.
Lingard now has the chance to rebuild his career after that has been a largely frustrating season. He has definitely gotten off to a good start at West Ham.
