Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes a potshot at Liverpool
According to The Mirror, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken a potshot at Liverpool as the defending champions put up a faltering title challenge.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are enduring a poor run of form that has seen them fall out of contention for the title. The German’s squad have had a number of injuries and ‘questionable’ refereeing decisions in their favour.
United are currently the closest team to City and Solskjaer believes we are the ones keeping the title challenge alive.
The Norwegian believes neither Manchester clubs have made excuses like Klopp and have just gone about their game.
“We were disadvantaged at the start of the season with the lack of a pre-season.”
United’s foray into the semifinals of last season’s Europa League saw them enjoy only a short respite in the summer. This lack of a pre-season has had an effect, with us getting off to a poor start.
“Us and City had played in Europe and had less preparation, so the performances of the two teams has been remarkable, after having to play catch-up after a difficult start.”
Some uncomfortable truths
While Solskjaer believes the title chase is alive, it is also hanging by a thread.
While we have put up some truly sensational displays, there have also been some atrocious ones which have luckily gone our way. Solskjaer will be better off focusing on his own team than worry about others.
After all, being a hypocrite doesn’t do one any favours. Being better than Liverpool counts for little when we are still not the best team in the land.

Solskjaer’s comments on keeping the title challenge, especially after bottling nine points in the last five games appear to be in poor taste.
The Norwegian will be better off making his point after leading us to silverware. As yet, he has achieved precious little to take potshots at sides who have been much more successful than us in recent times.
