Manchester United and Juventus keeping tabs on Tomas Soucek
According to TuttoJuve, Manchester United have identified West Ham United ace Tomas Soucek as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2022. He has been heavily linked with a transfer and it will come as no surprise if he bids goodbye in the summer.
In Soucek, United will have an underrated but effective replacement. An impactful midfielder, he also has an eye for goal and leads the Hammers’ scoring charts this season.
The Czech Republic international has so far made 26 appearances and has scored 8 goals this season. An impressive statistic for a defensive midfielder. His impressive 6’2″ frame also makes him a force to reckon with during set-pieces. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His success has also caught the attention of Czech legend Pavel Nedved. Now the Juventus vice preseident, he has urged the Italian giants to make a move for Soucek.
Available for €30million, Soucek also represents value for money. He would fit well within Juventus’ wage bill and also cost them lesser than Pogba.
As things stand, the fates of both Soucek and Pogba appear to be intertwined. Whether Juventus go for both players or just one of them remains to be seen.
Soucek is not a like-to-like replacement for Pogba. However, United could well choose not to replace the Frenchman with someone who has similar traits.

Scott McTominay and Fred have served well as a double pivot. The former has also shown glimpses of his attacking acumen with his forward forays. This has prompted Solskjaer to consider using McTominay further forward.
Solskjaer can do just that if he brings in Soucek to partner Fred in midfield. It would give us another dimension and another midfield runner in the opposition box. Moreover, Soucek’s aerial prowess can help us win the ball back in midfield.
