Manchester United star Mason Greenwood named among the top-10 wonderkids under the age of 20
According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has been named in the coveted list of the top 10 wonderkids in world football.
The 19-year-old is already a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad and has proven himself adept at the senior level. He has so far made 81 appearances for United, scoring 21 goals and assisting 10 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The United ace occupies the eight position, one spot ahead of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
Greenwood, however, is not the highest-ranked English player on the list. That distinction belongs to Borussia Dortmund new boy Jude Bellingham who occupies the sixth spot. He was a player United pursued with gusto last summer.
Greenwood has admittedly struggled to make much of an impact this season. His four goals and five assists in 28 games are just about decent. However, the fact that it is seen as inadequate speaks volumes of the standards he has set. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The player’s lack of consistency is something United are aware of and are addressing. While his goal contribution numbers may be low, his off-field involvement has improved. (h/t The Athletic) (Subscription Required)
In fact, it can be argued that Greenwood is developing into an all-round player capable of offering different dimensions.
