Aston Villa to hand Manchester United target Jack Grealish a new contract

According to Four Four Two, Aston Villa are preparing to offer Manchester United target Jack Grealish a new contract to fend off interest from their top-flight rivals.

The 25-year-old has been the subject of interest from the Red Devils, as well as cross-town rivals Man City, in recent weeks. Grealish only signed a new deal last year that should keep him at Villa Park until the summer of 2025.

However, as per the report, the Midlands outfit are willing to offer the England international a new contract with improved terms that would see him become one of the highest-paid footballers in the entire Premier League.

Villa view their influential captain crucial to their hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Grealish currently earns £120,000-a-week and his current employers are willing to increase his wages to more than £200,000-a-week to convince him to stay at his boyhood club.

The attacking midfielder was instrumental as Villa successfully battled relegation in the PL last term, contributing with 8 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances.

The homegrown star has caught the eye as an irrepressible force behind Aston Villa’s surge for European qualification this season. Grealish has bagged 6 goals and 10 assists in just 21 appearances while also breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England plans for the European Championship.

It was reported last year that United were willing to splash the cash on Grealish even after signing Bruno Fernandes. However, Villa managed to keep the Red Devils at bay with their massive valuation of the midfielder.

And they would be in a stronger negotiating position if Grealish does end up signing another contract.
