Bryan Robson sees a potential winner in Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes Bruno Fernandes has the traits required to help the club achieve success.
The former skipper has been part of numerous title-winning United sides and has a good idea of what it takes to achieve just that. In the Portuguese international, he sees a similar level of drive and determination.
While Fernandes’ ability and drive is clear for all to see, he ensures those around him also rise to the occasion. This ability to lift others up could prove crucial in crunch situations.
“What I like to see, when something doesn’t come off, or the ball goes dead, is you can see him talking to the players around him.”

Robson isn’t too concerned about the tone in which Fernandes asks those around him to rise up. The midfielder has shown he isn’t afraid to call people out as shown with Victor Lindelof against Sevilla last season.
“I’m not bothered about what he’s actually saying because you know it’ll either be encouragement or a rollicking for somebody.”
A title race has its own ups and downs and is in many ways an emotional rollercoaster. It is in such moments that players such as Fernandes shine through. It isn’t easy for title-winning teams to go all the ways without players such as him.

“This is what you have got to have if you want to win titles and win trophies. You’ve got to have those demands of each other. You’ve got to have that within your team and I can see Bruno has got that.”
Robson went on to add that Fernandes reminds him of Paul Scholes. The Ginger Prince was a crucial cog in Sir Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering United sides. In fact, United have not won the League since the Englishman’s retirement in 2013.
“I couldn’t give him a higher accolade than when I said he’s probably the closest thing to Scholesy I’ve seen.”

Now that a ‘Scholes’ is back in the United squad, we hope our eight-year wait for the title is coming to a close.
