Man United transfer blow as City prepare £100m offer for 20-year-old star

Manchester City plan to go all out for United transfer target Erling Haaland

A report by Mirror states that Manchester City are planning a £100million bid for Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland in the summer.

The Norwegian striker has a £68million release clause that is due to become active in the summer of 2022. However, Pep Guardiola is eager to look for a replacement for Sergio Aguero.

Aguero is in the last few months of his City contract and is believed to leave City to return to his native country in the summer. The 32-year-old has had just 3 starts this season and is yet to score in the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus does not seem like he has convinced his manager that he could be the main man at the club in Aguero’s absence.

Haaland, on the other hand, is in splendid form for Borussia Dortmund. He has scored 38 goals in 39 matches for the German side since his move last January.

Haaland to City looks likely

Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in the former RB Salzburg man. City, however, are looking to eliminate any competition for the 20-year-old by potentially offering £400,000-a-week wages to him.

United have a potent attack at the moment. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani have all had their moments this season.

However, Haaland is operating at another level. There is no doubt that he would significantly strengthen any attack that he joins.

His contract with the Bundesliga side expires in 2024. However, a move away before that seems likely as he has attracted the attention of some of the biggest football teams in the world.
