Manchester United in two minds over selling Diogo Dalot permanently to AC Milan
A report by The Sun (h/t Express) states that Serie A giants AC Milan are willing to pay up to £15m to permanently sign Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot in the summer.
The Portuguese full-back was signed by Manchester United for £20m from FC Porto in 2018. He was impressive in his first season at the club and found favour playing under Jose Mourinho.
However, the club signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m from Crystal Palace last season placed the 21-year-old full-back down the pecking order.
In fact, he made just 4 league appearances for the club in the 2019/20 campaign. The Red Devils then loaned him to Milan last summer so he could get more game time.
Dalot is himself happy at the Serie A side and the club wants to sign him permanently in the summer. He, however, still has time left on his United contract.
Dalot could leave permanently
His deal at the club runs out in the summer of 2023. Milan’s desire to land the versatile full-back is not surprising.
Firstly, Dalot is capable of playing on either flanks in the defence. Moreover, he has looked good in his first season in Serie A so far.
He has played 16 times for I Rossoneri in a season which has made the fans believe that the club could land their first Serie A title in a decade. Milan are currently at the top of the table, leading rivals Inter by 2 points.
United, meanwhile, are uncertain as to what they want to do with Dalot in the summer. The club is not opposed to him re-joining Old Trafford in the summer. (h/t Express)

It remains to be seen what the final verdict on Dalot is. The club does not have shortage of first-team full-backs, but can certainly do with some depth down the right-hand side of the defence.
