Manchester United stance on signings before January transfer window deadline day revealed
Speaking before the game against Sheffield United, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that bar any surprises, the club wouldn’t be signing anyone before the transfer deadline day. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“Bar something surprising happening I don’t think anything will happen in terms of incomings, no.”
The Norwegian manager stated that the club already has a load of players. So much so that he has to leave out a handful of them on most matchdays.
“I would be surprised if we do any incomings. The squad is strong, it is full of quality. I still need to leave players out of the squad at times.”
Summer incomings more likely
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the club’s first-choice right-back. However, youngster Brandon Williams is the only cover in that position after Timothy Fosu-Mensah departed for Bayern Leverkusen.
In fact, Williams himself has been linked with a loan exit from the club during January. Instead of incomings, the club is more likely to see players leave this window. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Uruguayan teenager Facundo Pellistri could move out on loan as a part of his development process. English midfielder Jesse Lingard has also been linked with a temporary exit this window.
