Solskjaer backs Amad Diallo to impress at right-wing for Manchester United

According to ESPN, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Amad Diallo could prove to be the solution the club is seeking at right-wing.

As things stand, Daniel James is the only senior natural right-winger in the squad. The Welshman is not a regular though, with Solskjaer making use of other options.

United was keen to bring in Jadon Sancho last summer. But the interest amounted to nothing and the youngster stayed put in Germany.

However, United did manage to sign one player, a highly-rated youngster from Atalanta – Diallo. Having joined up with his teammates earlier this month, the 18-year-old is yet to make his senior debut.

Solskjaer revealed that Diallo’s preferred position is right-wing and that the player would be the solution to his woes in the position.

“He is good at finding space, he can go inside and outside and he will get the time to prove that he is the one.”

The likes of Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, and Marcus Rashford have all played at right-wing this season. While United do have options, one would not bet against Diallo making the spot his own in the coming years.

“We have options but I think when you look at the squad and you look at Amad and you think, yeah, that’s probably where we will work to fit you in.”

A number of youngsters have thrived under Solskjaer at United. Hopefully, Diallo too will join that list sooner than later.

Solskjaer has slowly but steadily built United up. A number of weakness have been addressed but we are still some way away from becoming the complete package.

Hopefully, Diallo too will go on to prove his manager right and live up to the hype that surrounded his arrival.
