According to MEN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has credited four Manchester United stars for stepping in and making life easier for Edinson Cavani.

The veteran striker joined the club for free in the summer. Having spent the best years of his career in Italy and France, it was the 33-year-old’s first foray into English football.

Apart from the challenges on the pitch, Cavani has had to deal with off-field issues as well. One of them is his lack of fluency in English.

“The football language is one common language. He has learnt the most important words.”

The coronavirus pandemic has not made things easier, with in-person language lessons out of the question for now. With him largely set to be a short-term option and given that his performances speak for themselves, his lack of fluency in English should not impact his performances.

Thankfully, the likes of Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have all taken turns to act as impromptu translators for the Uruguayan.

“He can’t sit down and do the long analysis with players but we have Juan, Nemanja, Bruno, Paul. They help out and do the translation at times.”

While Solskjaer himself cannot speak in Spanish, it is good that there are players in his squad he can count on. The Norwegian went on to add that Cavani is not shy to ask for help and the players step up when needed.

“He is never shy to lay his message across and the players help.”

As long as they are fluent in the language of football, their message on the field can be heard lour and clear.
