Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes dismisses suggestions that he is risking being burnt out
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has dismissed suggestions that he tuns the risk of being burnt out.
The 26-year-old joined the club a year ago and has since been our most effective player. This has also seen him often play, missing a very small number of games.
Fernandes has made 51 appearances for United so far, making 46 goal contributions. An incredible statistic for a player in his first season on English shores. (h/t Transfermarkt)
As United’s best player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer often starts him in every game. Fernandes has looked off the pace in certain games, leading to fears that he could be on the verge of being burnt out.
“Tired? At 26-years-old I can’t be tired.”
The player, however, is having none of it. Fernandes believes he is in his prime and cannot be complaining about fatigue.
“If I’m tired now, when I arrive at 30 or 32 I will not play. I will play one game in five so, no, I’m not tired.”
While it is good to see that the player’s motivation remains high, the physical realities should not be ignored. To his credit, Solskjaer did rest Fernandes in our FA Cup clash against Liverpool.
The midfielder eventually came on as a substitute and went on to score the winner. Last year, Fernandes was the go-to man for United to make something happen.
With the likes of Paul Pogba and co. finding form, Solskjaer can avoid being overdependent on Fernandes. This should see him get some rest when possible, ensuring he is at his best when needed.
