Solskjaer admits that Donny van de Beek is unhappy at Manchester United

According to the Metro, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Donny van de Beek is unhappy at Manchester United.

Signed in the summer, the Dutch international made an immediate impression by scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace. He has, however, barely featured and has been primarily limited to appearances off the bench.

A key player at Ajax Amsterdam, he has experienced somewhat of a downgrade at Old Trafford. It is fair to say that the move has not panned out as expected at least for now.

“I wouldn’t say that Donny is happy.”

Given the experience, Van de Beek has every right to be upset. He, however, continues to conduct himself well in training, much to the approval of his manager.

“Of course, he wants to play more, but he gets about his job in the right manner.”

The Norwegian admitted that Van de Beek reminds him of himself when he was a United rookie. Solskjaer too faced similar chances and made a number of appearances for United off the bench.

He, however, made the most of his opportunities and emerged as a dependable player. Whether it came as a starter or as a substitute, the Norwegian often delivered. Hopefully

“He reminds me a lot about myself, when I first came in, that he understands my difficulties and challenges.”

A chance to make his point!

Solskjaer believes that the Dutch international is confident in his abilities and is just waiting for his opportunity. He could get that later tonight when we take on Liverpool in the FA Cup.

The 23-year-old is expected to play a part in the standout fixture of the fourth round. There is no better opportunity to make your point as a United player than against our arch-rivals.

“He will definitely be involved in this game against Liverpool and he might be the deciding factor in the game.”

Whether Van de Beek will grab the opportunity, remains to be seen.

Solskjaer believes Van de Beek is a team player who understands the situation and is happy for the team to succeed, even without him. It augurs well to the team spirit that the Norwegian is trying to inculcate.

Van de Beek’s chances will come but then the team always takes precedence over the individual.
