Bruno Fernandes reveals the key moment that changed the Manchester United season
Speaking to Football Focus (h/t Express), Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has revealed the key moment in what could be a special season for the club.
It came during out 2-2 draw against Leicester City away at the King Power Stadium. United led in the game but conceded late and ended up dropping two points.
The Red Devils have since won four of their five Premier League games, drawing the other. This has seen us move to the summit of the Premier League albeit having played a game more than second-placed Manchester City.
“It was the first time I saw a real frustration after drawing a game.”
The club’s poor start is now a distant memory following a thirteen-game unbeaten run in the league. While there is still half a season to go, United are well placed to challenge for a first league championship in eight years.
Fernandes admits that the draw against Leicester convinced the team that they cannot afford to lose points. Given how close teams are this season, that assumption is proving to be a prophecy.
“After the Leicester game when we drew in the last minute, I was really happy to see the frustration on the team when I got to the dressing room.”
Slow and steady progress!
Fernandes has now been at the club for almost a year. During this time the club has evolved from being top-four challengers to genuine title contenders.
“When I arrived I could see that the team was growing up. Game by game, we started to do better and better.”
While the team still has a long way to go, the progress seen on the field and off it is unquestionable. Hopefully, our efforts will be rewarded with a much-deserved title this season.
