Solskjaer remains impressed but also frustrated with Manchester United star Edinson Cavani
According to The Metro, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Edinson Cavani manages to leave him frustrated at times.
The Uruguayan international joined the club on a free in the summer. He has since emerged as an excellent player capable of stepping up when needed.
Cavani was once again on target in our 2-1 win over Fulham on Wednesday night. Ademola Lookman gave the Cottagers the lead early on only for the United striker to draw us level in the 21st minute.
A key player for us this season, Solskjaer was left impressed by the 33-year-old’s movement on the pitch.
“He’s the centre forward you want in the box. His movement is incredible and it’s something everyone can learn from.”
However, Solskjaer also admitted that he gets frustrated when Cavani drifts out wide. While his initiative to put in crosses is admirable, the Norwegian believes such a tactic is negated given Cavani is often the intended recipient of the cross.
“It’s almost like I get frustrated at times when he goes wide to put crosses in because he’s the one you want in there. Sometimes I have to ask him to do less running.”
Solskjaer admits Cavani was the striker United was looking for. He believes the veteran ace compliments fellow attackers Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
With Martial failing to reach the levels of last season, the onus is on Cavani to step up and be counted. As yet, he has done just that.
