Paul Pogba believes Edinson Cavani brings a unique quality to the Manchester United attack
According to MUTV (h/t The Metro), Manchester United star Paul Pogba has heaped teammate Edinson Cavani with praise following the 2-1 win over Fulham.
The Uruguayan drew United level before Pogba came up with yet another matchwinner as United climbed back to the top of the league. Signed in the summer for free, Cavani has proven he remains a potent player even at the age of 33.
“He’s always there at the right time and the right moment to help the team to win.”
The Uruguayan started the game up front, with Anthony Martial shifted out wide. He led the line well and was a focal point United could rally around.
Speaking after the game, Pogba believes Cavani has added traits to the side that have been lacking.
“Everybody knows that Edi is a top-class striker and there’s few strikers like this in the world, and we had the chance to have on.”
Pogba pinpointed the experience and the ability Cavani has brought to the United setup. He believes that other strikers at the club are not yet at the Uruguayan veteran’s level.
“They don’t have this, the experience of Edi, and they don’t have the same quality of Edi as well.”
A learning curve
Pogba’s words did not however come across as criticism. It was more of an honest observation without flinging shade at any involved parties.
The United trio is still young and has its best years ahead of itself. They could potentially all go on to have successful careers such as Cavani.
But for now, they are the students and it will aid them well to learn as much as they can from the veteran. One of the best strikers of his era, there are few better to guide them.
