Solskjaer not seeing eye to eye with Man United ace over Old Trafford future

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jesse Lingard at odds over the latter’s Manchester United future
According to ESPN (h/t Express), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jesse Lingard are at odds regarding the latter’s exit from Manchester United.
Lingard is now a bit-part player who has struggled for game time under Solskjaer. A combination of injuries, personal problems off the pitch, and a loss of form have all contributed to Lingard’s fall from grace.
The 28-year-old is currently wanted by seven clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Lingard is seeking a loan switch this January in order to boost his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros. He has also not featured for the Three Lions since June 2019.
Solskjaer, meanwhile, is keen to keep the player on until the end of the season. With the Red Devils keen to end their wait for the Premier League title, the Norwegian will need all the tools at his disposal.
The player, for his part, has been putting in the work in training. Solskjaer has been impressed but has done precious little to grant him playtime.

Lingard scored just four goals in 40 appearances for United last season. A far cry from the impactful player the club expected him to bloom into.
The Englishman enjoyed excellent spells out under Jose Mourinho. And the Portuguese is keen on a reunion at Tottenham, United are unwilling to sell to their rivals.
The 28-year-old has made just three appearances for the club this season. He is yet to play a single minute in the league this campaign. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Lingard’s high points for the club was scoring the winner in the 2016 FA Cup Final. The highs of that night are in stark contrast to the lows of today.
At 28, Lingard still has a number of years left in him. His versatility is something a competent manager could harness, giving them more options.
While Solskjaer’s sentiments are understandable, it would be prudent to not hold back the player’s career. Letting him go this month on loan would be the right decision.
