Donny van de Beek still in Manchester United plans for the future
Speaking to Dutch Radio (h/t Mirror), Manchester United legend, Edwin van der Sar has been told that Donny van de Beek still has a future at the club.
The Dutch midfielder has endured a frustrating spell since joining the club in the summer. Despite scoring on his debut, he has found opportunities at a premium and has largely started off the bench.
Van de Beek was said to be upset with his situation and was even advised to look for a move away in January. Van der Sar, however, has stated that Untied chiefs are confident of the player leaving his mark at the club.
“They are confident that he will get there.”
The former goalkeeper is Ajax Amsterdam’s chief executive. He helped facilitate Van de Beek’s move to United and is still in touch with those at Old Trafford. He has been told that the youngster has impressed in training.
“[He has a] fantastic attitude, he does well in training.”
Van de Beek’s predicament is not surprising considering the wealth of talent made available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. At 23, he has the best years of his career ahead of him and should make a mark at the club.
“It’s no shame at all, it’s also a big club, isn’t it.”
Patience pays!
While Van de Beek’s ability cannot be questioned, it will help him, in the long run, to be eased into the team than be thrown in abruptly. With the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Fred, and Nemanja Matic all available, competition for places was always going to be tough.
In time hopefully, he will go on to showcase his ability for us on a consistent basis.
