Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe looking up to Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t The Sun), Arsenal youngster, Emile Smith Rowe has revealed that he looks up to Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes for inspiration.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a breakout season under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates. He was once again in the thick of the action as he gained an assist against Newcastle United in a 3-0 win on Monday.
“I look up to Bruno Fernandes as a player. His stats are crazy.”
Signed in January 2020, Fernandes has hit the ground running at United. He became the first player to win four Premier League Player of the Month awards in a single year.
A match-winner, Fernandes’ addition has also improved our fortunes as a team. He has a total of 44 goal contributions in just 49 games, an amazing number for a player who just completed his first year in the league. (h/t Transfermarkt)
As seen at Chelsea with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, reputation counts for little in the English top flight. The fact that Fernandes is thriving in the league the other two have struggled is a mark of the player’s ability.
Smith Rowe has in our opinion chosen to follow in the footsteps of a player worthy of being looked up to. There are very few who can put up the numbers Fernandes has, that too from midfield.
After all it takes a truly special player for a rival protege to admire.

Fernandes endured a rare off night in our 0-0 draw to Liverpool on Sunday. Given his frustration at being taken off, Fulham better be wary of a masterclass come this Wednesday.
