Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils interested in Rapid Vienna wonderkid Yusuf Demir

Transfer News: According to Defensa Central (h/t The Express), Manchester United and Real Madrid will face off in the battle to land 17-year-old forward Yusuf Demir.

The Austrian wonderkid came through the ranks at First Vienna before joining Rapid Vienna in 2013. Having made his first-team debut in 2019, he has seen his stock rise.

Demir has so far made 23 appearances for the Green-Whites across all competitions. During this time, he has scored four goals and assisted three more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

His performances have caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest teams. United are said to be the team most keen. It comes as no surprise given our youth recruitment of late.

Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri are among a number of talented youngsters the club have signed in the past few windows.

The Red Devils are currently in talks with the player’s representatives but are yet to make an offer for Demir’s services. Vienna have placed an asking price tag of £8.9m on the player, who is also on Barcelona’s radar. (h/t The Express)

While Demir is keen to succeed with Rapid Vienna, he has also underlined his hopes of playing for a top team in the future.

There are few teams in world football that can match United’s legacy and lure. He would certainly be achieving his dream should he decide to come to Manchester. After all, Old Trafford is not called the Theatre of Dreams for nothing.
