Boris Johnson promises Marcus Rashford to look into reports of inadequate food parcels

According to a post made on his official Twitter handle, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has revealed that he enjoyed a productive talk with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The 23-year-old took to social media to question the effectiveness of inadequate food parcels being handed out to children. It kicked off a storm that saw people question if the contents of the box warranted the £30 price tag.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson admitted that the revelations disgusted him and vowed to “name and shame” the providers of sub-standard meals. (h/t Sky Sports)

With the Prime Minister now personally assuring to look into the matter, let’s hope that this issue is addressed properly. Johnson admitted that the parcels did not meet the standards required and the company involved has agreed to reimburse those affected.

A government contractor responsible for one such hamper, Chartwells, apologised. They admitted that the package the mother was sent was actually only worth £10.50. (h/t Sky Sports)

Unsubstantiated accusations!

Rashford is a true hero off the field, who has become the voice of those in need. His involvement in philanthropic activities has seen some question his efficacy on the pitch.

The striker has 20 goal contributions in 28 games and is United’s second top scorer. Moreover, he also set up Paul Pogba’s winner that took the club top yesterday. (h/t BBC)
