Manchester United star Marcus Rashford questions the effectiveness of inadequate food packages

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has branded the food package sent to a mother as unacceptable on social media.

The Red Devils star emerged as a champion to fight child food poverty last year. His initiatives forced the government to backtrack on unhelpful initiatives not once but twice.

Rashford’s response was to a post made by a mother, who questioned the effectiveness of a 10-day hamper. This amidst the claims that the £30 voucher replacements cost just £5.22.

Rashford also went on to post more images on his Twitter feed, especially that of a three-day food package that is meant to last a family. Given the meagre supplies it contains, the striker’s annoyance is certainly understandable.

The 23-year-old believes a better effort should be made to aid the children who study from home and the parents who make sacifices to ensure the kids stay fed.

Rashford’s concerns were reciprocated by Labour leader Sir Kerr Starmer. The government also went on to confirm that they are investigating if the free school meals parcels are truly worth the value they represent.

The company behind the lunches are Chartwells. The education catering specialist is of the £24.8billion-earning Compass Group UK & Ireland.

The United star has in recent months emerged as the face to stand up against child hunger. Despite certain improvements thanks to his efforts, there are issues to iron out. For now, the fight goes on.
