PSG make £75m Man United superstar top transfer target

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino eyes Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba

According to the Daily Star, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has made Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba his top transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has failed to hit the heights expected of him after a club-record transfer back in 2016. And, with the player desperate to leave, Manchester United are ready to let him leave at the end of the season.

Real Madrid and Juventus have been long linked with a move for Pogba. However, the pair have baulked at Manchester United’s asking price in excess of £100m.

But, with the Frenchman entering the final year of his contract at the end of the season, the club could be willing to offload him for £75m. And PSG boss Pochettino is now hoping to beat Real Madrid and Juventus to his signing.

Pochettino took over the reins at Parc des Princes earlier this week. And the Argentine tactician has identified Pogba as the man to build his team around, despite the midfielder’s struggle for consistency at Manchester United.

Pogba did not start the 2020/21 season well. However, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has shown drastic improvement in form over the past month or so. So far this term, the 27-year-old has two goals and three assists in 21 games in all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Despite his obvious talents, Pogba’s return to Old Trafford hasn’t panned out the way as expected. A parting of ways certainly seems to be on the cards this summer. It now remains to be seen if PSG beat Real Madrid and Juventus to his signing.
