Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues Eric Bailly injury update after Watford win
Speaking to the club’s official website, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issued a positive injury update on defender Eric Bailly after the win against Watford.
Manchester United beat the Hornets 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, courtesy a fifth-minute headed goal by stand-in captain Scott McTominay. The win meant we are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The joy of the result, though, was somewhat soured as Eric Bailly had to come off with an injury on the cusp of half-time. The Ivorian was involved in a nasty collision with teammate Dean Henderson, who charged out to punch the ball away.
It appeared like the Manchester United goalkeeper had barged into Bailly’s head, with the centre-back going down immediately. There were fears that the former Villarreal man might have suffered a concussion.
However, Solskjaer has allayed such fears, insisting that there was no concussion, but a neck soreness, due to which the defender had to be taken off.
“There was no concussion. Apparently it was his neck – a sore neck. But he couldn’t carry on, so let’s check on him tomorrow.”
Bailly himself took to social media to confirm that the injury was not serious. This ought to come as a huge relief for Solskjaer as well as the Manchester United supporters. Having returned from an injury layoff not so long ago, Bailly had been in imperious form over the past few games.

A serious injury at this point would have meant another major setback for the Ivorian, who has had to battle fitness problems throughout his career at Old Trafford.
Thankfully, it does not seem as bad as initially feared. The Ivorian might not be risked in the midweek game against Burnley. Hopefully, he can be called upon for the Liverpool clash next weekend.
