Manchester United yet to make a decision on the first-team status of Amad Diallo
According to MEN, Manchester United are yet to make a decision on the status of new boy Amad Diallo.
The 18-year-old completed his switch to United on Thursday in a deal worth £37m. He will be eligible to play for the Red Devils once he lands in England.
Despite his limited experience of playing in the first-team at Atalanta, Diallo is highly-rated. Also, he excels as a right-winger, one position United are keen to strengthen.
Diallo could be set to follow in the footsteps of another United youngster, Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan joined the club in the summer and has so far played for the United Under-23s.
Currently down with the coronavirus, his chances of featuring this weekend against Watford have gone up in smoke. It is possible that Diallo will also be similarly eased into the United squad, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed. (h/t MEN)
“It’s important we give him that time to settle in, if it’s going to be in the 23s to play his first few games or if he looks so ready after he’s been training with the first-team and he’ll go straight into that group, I don’t know yet.”
Haste makes waste!
The burden of expectations looks to be set higher on Diallo’s shoulder in comparison to that of Pellistri. After all, it is not every day that a youngster is compared to Lionel Messi. (h/t Express)
Diallo is one of the best young talents to come out of Italy in recent years. United will do well not to rush him into the first-team despite his ability.
Still just 18, he has his whole career ahead of him. The club will do well to ensure he fine-tunes his abilities before his big break.
