Brandon Williams ready to leave Manchester United in search of regular football

According to MEN, Manchester United youngster, Brandon Williams is ready to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019/20. He has, however, played a largely peripheral role this time around. As of now, he has made just one Premier League appearance.

The full-back’s last Premier League start came in the 2-0 win over Manchester City back in March. It is fair to say that the Covid-19 lockdown also put an end to his prominent role.

With opportunities harder to come by, Williams is keen to leave on a temporary basis this January. The youngster prefers to join another top flight side.

With Alex Telles and Luke Shaw firmly established as the club’s top choices at left-back, Williams may indeed need to leave to garner more game time.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Axel Tuanzebe, and Victor Lindelof are the club’s preferred options on the right flank. A shift to the other side isn’t likely to improve his chances either. (h/t Express)

As things stand, Newcastle appears to have stolen a march over the Saints. The Magpies are also understood to have agreed on a deal in principle to loan Williams until the end of the season. (h/t Mirror)

With Jamal Lewis struggling to settle in at Newcastle, Williams has an opportunity to ensure he can make the position his own on Tyneside.

With his development having stalled, a temporary switch would be the best step forward to get him back on track.
