Diogo Dalot expresses ‘bittersweet’ feeling after moving to AC Milan on loan
Speaking to Record (h/t Express), Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot expressed the ‘bittersweet’ feeling of leaving Old Trafford to join AC Milan.
The Portuguese full-back left United to join San Siro on loan move in the summer. He certainly would be enjoying life in Italy, as his club sits at the top of Serie A.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deemed that a loan move for the 21-year-old would be apt as Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the club’s first-choice right-back. Since then, Dalot has made 5 appearances in the league for Milan.
He has seen the most action for the Serie A giants in the Europa League, where he started all 6 games. In total, he has appeared in 11 matches for Milan, where he has 1 goal and 2 assists so far. (h/t transfermarkt)
Milan lead second-placed Inter by a point. Amidst his team’s upward trajectory, Dalot expressed his thoughts on his time at United before his loan move.
No regrets
The former FC Porto full-back says that he was unable to show his best form for the Red Devils due to injury. However, he does acknowledge his role in some important matches for the club.
“I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury.”
However, he says that he has no regrets and would take everything in his stride. Adding to that, Dalot also diplomatically mentioned that his sole focus at the moment is on Milan.
“But it is what it is. I wouldn’t change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now.”
