Manchester United retain interest in Jadon Sancho and expect to land him for a cheaper fee
A report by 90min (h/t Express) states that Manchester United are still keen on sign Jadon Sancho and expect to land him for a fee under £100million.
The Borussia Dortmund winger was on the top of United’s transfer list last summer. However, the club refused to cough up Dortmund’s asking price of £108million due to the financial effects of Covid-19.
Sancho has had a disappointing season so far. He is yet to score in the Bundesliga, blanking in his 11 appearances so far.
Despite his poor run of form, Manchester United remain keen on signing him before the postponed 2020 UEFA Euros this summer. They also believe they can sign him for cheaper than Dortmund’s asking price in the summer.
Manchester United remain the only club to show formal interest. However, they will face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool, who are also interested in signing the 20-year-old winger. (h/t Express)
A valuable addition
The club hasn’t felt any strong repercussions of not signing the former Manchester City winger in the summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in a strong position.
A 2-1 win against Aston Villa on Friday saw the team go level on points with league leaders Liverpool. We only trail the defending champions on goal difference, with 16 matches being played so far in the season.
United’s attackers have also looked impressive recently. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani have all chipped in with goals.

Nevertheless, a winger like Jadon Sancho could significantly better any team’s attacking depth and quality. The winger is good enough to already be a first-team starter and should only get better with time, considering he is just 20.
