Gary Neville believes Manchester United will not pursue Jack Grealish
Speaking to Sky Sports during the game against Aston Villa (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United legend Gary Neville said that it was highly unlikely that the club would make a move for Jack Grealish.
Manchester United were linked with a move for the Aston Villa midfielder in the summer. However, Villa’s £80million asking price for the English midfielder put United off.
Grealish signed a new deal at Aston Villa at the start of the 2020/21 season, and United chose to sign Donny van de Beek for a much lower fee. Grealish has only become better this season.
The 25-year-old has 5 goals and 9 assists in the Premier League already as he continues to impress. However, Gary Neville thinks that the Red Devils might not be too eager to get him to Old Trafford.
“I think it’s very unlikely Manchester United would move for Jack Grealish, as good as he is.”
Not needed at the club?
The former United defender believes that United already have enough capable players in the squad. This is why they will be under no immediate pressure to sign a player like the Villa midfielder.
“When you think of Van de Beek, Pogba, Fernandes, the type of players they have…”
Neville says that Grealish is a great player for Villa. However, the form of midfielders such as Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes would put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s mind at ease, despite the January window now available.
Both Fernandes and Pogba were impressive as United beat Aston Villa 2-1 to go level on points with leaders Liverpool. Pogba won the penalty which Bruno Fernandes scored to seal the 2-1 scoreline on the night.

Grealish is also a player who mostly plays down the left-hand side of the midfield and the attack. That is a position where United have ample depth as compared to the right-hand side of the pitch.
