Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire pleased with Paul Pogba in Wolves win
According to MEN, Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has praised Paul Pogba for his excellent performance in the win over Wolves.
The Frenchman was just one of the six faces Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought into the starting line-up for yesterday’s game. He once again put in a disciplined performance, shielding the defence well.
The defensive solidity ensured that Marcus Rashford’s goal in stoppage-time was enough to earn us three points on the night.
“Well it was important we had great protection from Nemanja and Paul – who I thought was excellent as well in the defensive work.”
Playing alongside Nemanja Matic, Pogba formed a formidable duo with the Serbian veteran.
Maguire, playing behind them, was impressed with the duo’s tenacity and fight in midfield. This made the defence’s job easier against a dangerous Wolves side.
Pogba carried over his form into the second half where he got stuck in and made a number of key tackles.
Pogba’s future at United continues to be a debate given his agent Mino Raiola’s comments.
The 27-year-old has ironically stepped up his game since and is now among our best players. With his deal set to expire in 2022, it looks increasingly likely that Pogba will leave next summer. (h/t The Metro)
It would appear that he is keen on leaving with a bang.
