Gary Neville has transfer advice for Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Speaking in an interview (h/t Mirror), Manchester United legend Gary Neville said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not need to panic-buy in the January transfer window.

Things looked grim when United were sent packing from the UEFA Champions League group stages earlier in December. Since then, the Red Devils have picked up the pace.

Their impressive performances in that time include a 6-2 drubbing of rivals Leeds United and a 2-0 win against Everton. The latter result is the one which has given the fans a lot of optimism going into January.

United scored two late goals to beat the Toffees and book a berth in the Carabao Cup semi-final, where they will now play Manchester City.

Such a result has also prompted Gary Neville to ask for composure from the club in the transfer market.

The former United right-back says that the club should only look for a signing if an opportunity presents itself. Otherwise, the club need not “panic”.

“If the right player is there then yes because they need to improve the team. But if it’s not there, I wouldn’t panic.”

Neville said that the fans were largely pessimistic about the season ahead after their exit from Europe. However, performances against Everton and Leeds United have given the fans much cause for optimism.

“I think right now the fans will be happy because the players have a lot of quality.”

Gary Neville believes Solskjaer would be calmer in the January window due to United's performances against Everton and Leeds United.

The English pundit went on to say that United have what they need in order to have a good season. The club, he said, has the “big characters” and “match-winners” in the squad who will only get better with time. (h/t Mirror)

Neville’s comments make sense. United have an array of superstars in their squad and their recent form has seen them slowly creep up the Premier League table.

However, as the Englishman himself said, there is still room for improvement in the team and the club should be on the lookout for any opportunity that presents itself in January.
