Michael Owen and Roberto Martinez heap the praise on Marcus Rashford
According to Amazon Prime Video (h/t The Daily Mail), Michael Owen and Roberto Martinez have hailed the impact of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
The 23-year-old scored a brace as the Red Devils came from behind to beat Sheffield United at Bramall lane last night. The win saw us move to within five points of the top with a game in hand.
Owen believes Rashford is a better central striking choice compared to Anthony Martial and praised his movement and runs.
“He always wanted to be a number ten or a wide player. It suits him and it suits Martial, he’s the best out of the two to play down the middle.”
“I thought his movement was excellent, his timing of the runs too.”
Owen’s sentiments were echoed by Belgium national team manager, Roberto Martinez.
He believes Rashford has emerged as a player and has stepped up a notch for both club and country. He also praised the player’s clinical nature by commending his confidence in front of goal.
“The movement was exceptional, in front of goal he looked confident.”
Martinez alluded to the player’s hat-trick against RB Leipzig as an example of his ability as a player. While he still can improve his goalscoring record, we will have to agree with Matinez that Rashford is a special striker.
“It is a much more mature Rashford for United and for England too. When you have the pace and composure on the ball you have a special striker.”
