Manchester United to make a call on loaning out Brandon Williams in January
According to MEN, Manchester United are set to wait until January to make a call on whether to loan out Brandon Williams.
The signing of Alex Telles on deadline day earlier in the summer pushed Williams further down the pecking order this season. With Luke Shaw also ahead of him, playing time has come at a premium.
“He had a slow start to the season for different reasons. I think he’s now coming back to himself.”
Williams has made just five appearances across all competitions this season. Of these, just one came in the Premier League. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His situation has attracted attention from both Southampton and Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window.
Solskjaer admitted that the youngster is slowly but surely getting back to his best. He also went on to add that he will revisit in the player’s services from our rivals in the new year.
“That’s something we’ll look at in January but we highly rate Brandon so whoever’s interested, they’re not wrong.”
The decision to delay the decision on Williams until January is understandable given our hectic festive schedule. Today’s trip to Sheffield United is the first of six games in 15 days.
With games coming thick and fast, Solskjaer will need to manage his squad better. Whether this means Williams will find game time easier to come by remains to be seen.

Williams is a promising player who has the potential to grow into a good full-back. However, staying on the bench would only hamper his development.
If United are not in a situation to offer that, it makes sense for us to loan him out. It could prove to be a win-win for all parties involved.
