Manchester United still interested in signing Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes
Portuguese media outlet O Jogo (h/t Manchester Evening News) report that Manchester United are still keen on signing Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes.
The report says that Manchester United were offered the 18-year-old left-back a year ago when they were pursuing Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United signed Alex Telles from FC Porto in the summer. Despite that, they continue to be linked with the Sporting Lisbon left-back.
The Red Devils are not the only Premier League club keen on signing the full-back. Liverpool are also reportedly interested in bringing him to Anfield.
Apart from the English clubs, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the highly-rated starlet. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have a shortage of left-backs on paper. Englishman Luke Shaw looked in fine touch when he played at the start of the season.
Alex Telles, who United brought to Old Trafford from Liga NOS side FC Porto, has slowly established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back.
On top of that, the club also has youngster Brandon Williams fighting for first-team minutes. The 20-year-old has not played a single minute in the Premier League this season.
Diogo Dalot, a right-back by trade, is also capable of playing on the left-hand side.
With such an abundance of cover for the left-back position, the news of United being keen on signing Nuno Mendes could come as a surprise for a few people.

However, Nuno Mendes is still just 18. He looks like a promising prospect especially considering the faith being put him in by Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim.
The youngster has played in 8 Liga NOS games already this season, even managing a goal in the process.
