Manchester United legend Paul Scholes praises Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford

Speaking on BT Sports (h/t The Express), Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has praised the performances of Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford against PSG.

United did have their moments but failed to kill of PSG early in the second half. Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani both missed chances that should have put the game to bed.

The French giants took advantage of our profligacy and went on to win 3-1. Despite the result, Scholes believes both McTominay and Rashford distinguished themselves.

Scott McTominay was good but needs to do much better

McTominay was combative and should have done better for PSG’s first goal. However, Scholes believes that the Scotsman did a good job of stopping Mbappe in his tracks.

“McTominay in midfield was excellent. Amount of times he got back and took the ball off Mbappe.”

While the United star did have his moments, it can be argued that Mbappe also made a hash of the opportunities that fell to him. Overall, we feel Scholes is being overly generous to McTominay.

His efforts to rile up Neymar too fired back as the Brazilian had he last laugh at full-time.

Rashford is also a doubt for the weekend
Manchester United could be without Marcus Rashford against West Ham United

The same cannot be said of Rashford. The 23-year-old truly looked unplayable at times and made a number of mazy runs.

“Rashford I thought he was brilliant at times.”

His deflected shot after the half-hour mark was enough to see us draw level and find our way back into the game.

Rashford continued from where he left off in the second half. However, his teammates lack the clinical edge and the score stayed level. The striker was taken off in the second half and is now a doubt to face West Ham United at the weekend. (h/t Man United)
